Frequently Asked Questions

What is DLP?

DLP stands for Digital Light Processing. DLP projectors beam light through a color wheel, reflection mirrors, then finally a lens. Developed by Texas Instruments, the DLP chip, aka digital micromirror device (DMD), differentiates DLP from LCD projectors.

What are the typical features of a DLP projector?

  • Sharper images
  • Filter-free design for virtually no maintenance
  • Maintenance-free design that saves time and reduces cost
  • Sealed optics prevents dust spots
  • Typically small, lightweight profile compared to LCD projectors
  • Cheaper purchase price than a similar spec LCD projector

Do DLP projectors only come with a lamp light source?

The quick answer is no.

DLP projectors are available with UHP lamp, LED and Laser light source options

Is a DLP or LCD projector better for Gaming use?
