BenQ TK700ST

The BenQ TK700ST is aimed squarely at gaming and the numbers bear that out. Input lag measures 4.2ms at 1080p and 240Hz, 8.3ms at 120Hz and 16.7ms at 4K and 60Hz, with vertical scan support up to 120Hz, so a console or a PC gets a picture that keeps up. The lens is short throw at 0.9 to 1.08 with a 1.2x manual zoom, producing a 100 inch diagonal image from approx 2.5mtr back and suits a room where the projector has to sit close to the seating. Resolution is 4K UHD via pixel shifttechnology, with 96% of Rec. 709 and support for HDR10 and HLG.

The thing to understand about the TK700ST is that it is lamp based rather than laser or LED, which changes the ownership sums. Normal mode is rated at 4,000 hours, rising to 8,000 in SmartEco, 10,000 in eco and 15,000 in lamp save mode, so a replacement lamp is a cost to plan for rather than a surprise. There is no lens shift, so mounting wants to be central. The BenQ TK700ST makes sense when the priorities are response time and 4K at a sensible price, in a room used in bursts rather than all day. For heavy use the LED or Laser based models in the range cost more at the outset and less to run.
