Projectorpoint Opinion
The ViewSonic PX700HDHE is the entry model in the range. The light source is a 203W lamp rather than a laser, rated at 6,000 hours in normal mode and up to 20,000 in the lowest power setting, so a replacement lamp is a running cost to plan for rather than a surprise. In exchange the purchase price is a fraction of the laser models around it, which for a room used a few hours a week rather than all day is often the right arithmetic.
At 2.4kg it is the lightest projector of its output in the range and simple to mount or move. The lens has a 1.49-1.64:1 ratio with a 1.1x manual zoom, putting 100 inches up from around 3.3 metres, which is a narrow band, so the position wants working out in advance. There is no lens shift and keystone correction is vertical only, so the PX700HDHE needs to sit near square on to the screen. Two HDMI 1.4 inputs, RS232 and a 10W speaker cover the connections, but there is no network port, so this is a standalone projector rather than a managed one.
