Epson EB-760W

For a teaching room the Epson EB-760W is well connected: three HDMI inputs, wired and wireless networking, Miracast casting, and a 16W speaker, which covers most of what a classroom needs without a rack. The laser light source is rated at 20,000 hours in normal mode or 30,000 in extended, measured to the point where output has halved rather than to failure, and the UK warranty runs to five years or 12,000 hours. Three practical points. Zoom is digital rather than optical, so the screen size follows the mounting distance and the projector should sit where the measurements say. Keystone adjustment is only 3 degrees each way, so the bracket needs to be accurate rather than approximately right. And unlike some rivals the Epson EB-760W has a cleanable air filter, so maintenance is light rather than absent.

Versatile wired and wireless connectivity options, including screen mirroring via Miracast™, allow participants to effortlessly share content from their PCs or mobile devices. With a connected optional Epson visualiser, documents, presentations or 3D objects can be viewed with incredible detail.

Unlike a flat-panel display, there is no heavy, breakable, glass panel to create disruptive, reflected blind spots at certain angles, and teachers are not subjected to LCD panel direct blue light radiation, believed to damage eyes. Paired with a hygienic, antibacterial whiteboard, teachers can annotate presentations with dry-wipe pens, or to save energy, simply use the whiteboard with the display turned off.
