The introduction of 4K Ultra HD has created a vast challenge to installers and integrators as it stipulates a requirements for a higher than 10.2Gbps. To display the fullest and most complete 4K Ultra HD features, a transmission system requires a minimum of 11.1Gbps .

To fully benefit from the rich wide colour gamut offered by the REC2020 standard content must be transmitted at 10bit colour depth. Current transmission methods such as standard active HDMI cables and HDbaseT are offering a limit of 10.2Gbps capacities which fall short of the ability to display 10bits at 60Hz. The lack of bandwidth has very significant implication to compatibility with the latest OLED, LED and projectors. In many instances the use of HDbaseT or HDMI1.4 connections will result in lack of any image on the screen regardless of the refresh rate chosen.

In addition to the connectivity limitations the 8bit image will be significantly poorer than that of a 10bit image as it is using a far reduced (6,250% lesser than 10bits) pallet of pigments to create colours and contrasts on the screens.

HDR : HDR technology enhances brightens and colours of the large 3840x2160 resolution images by turning the very sizable image in to a vibrant colourful and highly contrasted image that rival that of professional cinemas. There is a number of HDR standards, it is too early to predict if one of standards will dominate the marketplace. However, HDR10 and Dolby Vision and Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) should be very closely looked at. Dolby Vision is offering a significant advantage over other HDR implementations as it offers a native 12bit performance. All other HDR techniques rely on a maximum colour depth of 10bits. When combined with a 60Hz the 10bit image will greatly elevate the experience of users as the image is aided by the ability of the HDR feature such as Dolby Vision to transform the viewing experience. The combination of these two will create an image that will rival that of some commercial cinemas.

NueTec 18Gbps Active Optical HDMI cables transmit the most accurate UHD signal made of 10bit transmission, HDR, REC2020 and a 4:2:0 at 50/60Hz. Each NueTec AOC18G HDMI cable is accompanied with a test certificate.
