A new five-screen cinema has opened in Wales, replacing an old bingo hall.
Maxime Cinema in Blackwood opened its doors on Tuesday (6 August) and its first screening was close to being a sellout, reports the South Wales Argus.
Four Seasons Entertainment bought the building on behalf of Bognor Regis-based Picturedrome Cinemas and Steve Reynolds, the owner of Four Seasons Entertainment, said every business in the town will benefit from the opening of the cinema.
"We are looking to attract 3,500 people through the doors every week and hoping it will get other businesses and restaurants to invest in the town," he said.
British thriller Blackwood was the first movie to be screened at Maxime Cinema, with attendees treated to some live music and entertainment before the film got started.
Maxime Cinema is set to show a wide array of films using its projector technology, such as family fare including Pudsey the Dog: The Movie and summer blockbusters like Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Guardians of the Galaxy.
