Projector manufacturer, ViewSonic, has unveiled a new wireless gateway that will allow older, non-WiFi-enabled projectors to display content via a wireless connection.

The ViewSonic WPG-370 Universal Wireless Gateway supports more mobile devices than any other wireless solutions and also paves the way for wireless projection with full HD 1080 Intel WiDi powered wireless streaming.

ViewSonic product manager, Roger Chien, said that the development of the gateway was prompted by the surge in mobile devices, which has heightened the demand for wireless presentation facilities.

“We have eliminated the cables with our WPG-370 while adding multiple operation modes such as media streaming for extended flexibility,” he explained. “As such, this product supports more mobile devices than any other wireless presentation solution, for the effortless sharing of presentations, images and videos.”

The device is being targeted at the education, enterprise and SME markets, providing multiple operation modes, including WiDi for 1080p wireless streaming, presentation for desktop mirroring and Media Streaming for wireless presentation of images and video from mobile devices.

The WPG-37o has multiple connectivity options – including HDMI and optical – allowing for easy connection to a projector or large display screen. PC-less media streaming is also available directly from a USB thumb drive.
