The ViewSonic PJD7383i projector has been praised for its giant picture, which it can achieve thanks to its ultra-short throw lens.

According to a recent projector review from PC Advisor, the gadget is capable of producing a 75 to 80-inch picture in an average six foot room. The machine’s image size is worth keeping in mind when fitting the projector to wall mountings.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite appear up to the task when it comes to movies. Despite featuring 3,000 ANSI lumens of brightness and DLP technology, the PJD7383i “lacked intensity” when projecting dark images. But for presentation tasks it should be more than capable.

Its wide range of input options should help when it comes to presentations too. For example, anyone using the gadget in the classroom or the office can choose to use a PointBlank interactive pen, which allows the user to move the pointer around like a mouse. At 3.5kg, the projector is not exactly portable, but can be moved with relative ease over short distances, for example, between classrooms.

There is also a standard range of ports and connectors, including S-video, USB and RGB options, although no HDMI or alternative dedicated digital input is available.
