ViewSonic has announced the launch of two new ultra-short throw projectors designed for use within the education sector.

The WXGA resolution PJD8653ws and the XGA resolution PJD8353s projectors both feature a contrast ratio of 15,000:1 and produce a brightness of 3,000 lumens. Thanks to the short throw lens used on each projector, both are capable of projecting while mounted just above a whiteboard surface or screen, preventing the issue of shadow and the casting of a bright light on the user.

The connectivity options for both projectors include HDMI ports and each device is capable of producing 3D images, allowing 3D Blu-ray players and games consoles to display video through the new models. PCs, laptops and mobile devices can also connect to the projectors.

Both the PJD8653ws and the PJD8353s include ViewDraw 2 software and dual interactive pens, which allows two users to simultaneously annotate and draw on the projected image. Integrated Creston LAN controllers also make it simple for the devices to be remotely controlled and managed by IT administrators.

Vincent Hung, product manager for ViewSonic, is confident that the market for education-targeted projectors will continue to grow. He said: "We believe the demand for ultra short throw projection and interactive learning will keep growing stably and will keep putting efforts to provide solutions for education segment."
