1. Optoma named top projector seller in Americas

    Optoma is the top selling projector manufacturer in both North and South America, the firm has said.

    New models such as the HD26, HD141X, GT1080, HD161X, HD1009, EH200ST and HD50 have helped Optoma to assert its dominance in key markets such as Brazil and the United States.

    The Q4 2014 PMA Research report showed that the firm has the number one spot in the DLP 1080p projector market.

    Jon Grodem, senior director of product management, explained that there is a strong demand in the market for DLP 1080p projectors and Optoma is meeting it.

    He said the company has produced "affordable 1080p DLP projectors with technological advances that far outweigh LCD technology".

    Mr Grodem added: "It has been Optoma's direction to bring the best performance/cost ratio products to the market in all categories and this time the success is recognised in 1080p segment. Optoma will continue in this direction for 2015 in answer to market demand."

    According to the Q4 2014 PMA Research report, the Optoma HD141X is the number one selling projector in the entire North America projector market.

    Connectivity is at the heart of Optoma's projectors and they typically include top features such as wireless connectivity and Dual HDMI, along with other legacy I/O ports.

    The company added: "Optoma is dedicated to developing high quality products, and offers an extensive projector product line to provide solutions fitting all manner of projection needs seen in small businesses, enterprises, large venue installations, educational institutions, retail business, digital signage and home entertainment setups."

  2. Epson launched first-ever laser projector

    Leading projector manufacturer Epson has announced the released of its first-ever laser home cinema projector at ISE 2015.

    The EH-LS10000 projector is the first Epson device to feature Ultra HD 4K enhancement and 3LCD Reflective technology, delivering the "ultimate in picture quality".

    As well as providing a 1080p Full HD picture, the EH-LS10000 also delivers the widest colour spectrum yet thanks to its dual laser light source and bright 1,500 lumens picture with high White and Colour light output.

    The 3D projector model is also designed with a long-life light source of up to 30,000 hours in Eco mode, reducing maintenance costs and allowing it to power up for projection in just 20 seconds.

    The EH-LS10000 is shipped with a wide lens shift range, powered zoom lens, and a number of lens position memory presents that make it easier for users to position several of their favourite screen aspect ratios.

    Commenting on the new device, Product Manager of Epson UK Paul Wilson stated that the projector has been specifically designed for "aspirational home cinema enthusiasts".

    “Our new laser projector is Epson’s first home cinema product to harness the power of this high-quality technology,” he said.

    The EH-LS10000 projector is due to go on sale in the United Kingdom at the beginning of April, with retail price set at £5,999.

  3. Epson launches new CoverPlus365

    Epson has launched CoverPlus 365, a new pre-and post-sale service and support programme that aims to provide first class service and support to installation customers.

    Offering dedicated support to Epson projector users, CoverPlus365 offers direct access to trained Epson experts who provide guidance and support at all stages of the sale process, from pre-sales to system installation.

    The Epson experts will also provide training and advice to projector customers to ensure they have the right skills to resolve faults as quickly as possible.

    According to Epson, the new programme will offer customers unique access to spare projectors, lamps and filters that can be stored on site, ensuring maximum continuity and minimum downtime for those relying on business installations.

    Daniel Rose, product manager for Epson Europe, suggests that the new support programme extends the first class service and support provided by the firm in all aspects of their business.

    He continued: “CoverPlus365 provides our customers with unmatched service responsiveness and will help us cement our growing reputation for providing unrivalled support and assistance to the AV market.”

    CoverPlus365 has been launched by Epson in Europe at the USE following a successful trial period carried out in the UK.

  4. Christie projectors installed at Singapore cineplex

    Christie's projector technology has been selected for the new cineplex at Singapore's latest suburban shopping complex, The Seletar Mall.

    Shaw Theatres Seletar will have eight theatre auditoriums with over 700 spacious, comfortable seats and it will also feature the company's first ever boothless projection room. This is used to maximise space and enhance operational efficiency.

    Christie digital cinema solutions have been fitted throughout the cineplex with Christie Solaria One+ projectors chosen by the cinema company for the auditoriums.

    Mark Shaw, executive vice-president of operations at Shaw Theatres, said: "Christie's visual solutions are well known for their quality and reliability. We are confident that their cinema solutions fitted here will offer quality visual and cinematic experience for all movie patrons."

    The Christie ACT Digital Cinema Theatre Control product has also been installed at Shaw Theatres Seletar, which gives exhibitors the chance to make many different alterations, such as adjusting light dimmers, masking motors, changing audio levels, or amending the settings of the projector and server from any web capable device on the same network.

  5. NEC Display Solutions Europe unveil new large format display

    NEC Display Solutions Europe has announced the launch of a new large format display, the MultiSync X474HB, which is aimed at the digital signage sector.

    Offering a suitable solution for high brightness environments and sunlight-readable operation, the new device boasts a 47-inch speciality LCD display that is capable of adapting to its surroundings in terms of brightness.

    With brightness levels of up to 2000cd/m2, the X474HB is suitable for use in shopping windows or outdoor applications such as sporting venues.

    Tobias Augustin, product manager Public Display Solutions at NEC Display Solutions Europe, said: "Large format LCD displays often struggle to be as effective in unshaded outdoor conditions where the temperature and brightness of sunlight wash out the image.

  6. Multi-display ceiling mount range unveiled by Peerless-AV

    A new line-up of multi-display ceiling mounts has been unveiled by Peerless-AV.

    The range will offer 360° visibility, utilising a single mounting point for a wide selection of configurations. The new ceiling mounts are suitable for use in high-traffic public areas, such as business meetings or lectures, sports venues such as large stadiums, restaurants and bars, transportation applications and retail offerings.

    The new line of Multi-Display Mounts includes the DST980-3 model, which is able to support three 37-80 inch displays evenly spaced in a triangular configuration. Meanwhile, another inclusion is the DST975-4 ceiling mount, which is capable of supporting four 37-75in displays evenly spaced in a square or rectangular configuration.

    Finally, the DST942-6 mount is able to support six 37-42 inch displays evenly spaced in a circular configuration, InAVate On The Net confirmed.

    Each of the ceiling mounts contained in the new line-up from Peerless-AV’s feature adjustable telescoping arms to allow the installer to adjust the spacing between each display to best suit the application it will be use for.

  7. New home cinema system unveiled by Bose

    Bose has announced an extension to its popular SoundTouch Wifi Music systems, which provide homeowners with all the kit to play music wirelessly, from one location, throughout their homes.

    The CineMate 130 home cinema system, part of the SoundTouch family, is able to work alongside other SoundTouch systems in order to provide what the company has called a ‘multi-room listening experience’.

    The home cinema system has numerous settings – a party mode enables it to work as one in order to play music throughout the house, while different music can also be streamed in each room, or custom zones created.

    The device comprises a five speaker system with ‘notable’ bass performance and can be either laid flat or flush mounted, with both positions offering the same solid sound quality to users. The performance of the speaker can also be adjusted in order to best suit the acoustics of the room by making use of the ADAPTiQ audio calibration.

    Other features include stored music searches that are able to be accessed remotely via phone or tablet device, and music can be streamed from sites including Deezer and Spotify, allowing tunes to be played using WiFi.

  8. Kickstarter goal reached for robot projector

    A Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign launched to bring a robot projector to the market has hit its goal.

    Keecker is described as a portable all-in-one computer that has both a full HD projector and a short-throw projector, as well as a 360 degree speaker system.

    The company behind the product, which was displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas earlier in the year, has already hit its $100,000 (£62,117) goal.

    Keecker could now start shipping in the next few months, providing a new way forward for the projector industry in the future.

    According to founder Pierre Lebeau, Keecker will provider consumers with a big screen experience in their own home.

    He said: "It's a totally new type of computer, we call it a home pod. Keecker is creating something new - imagine your kids going to sleep with the milky way on the ceiling, or waking up to the Maldives."

    Keecker could also double up as a home security system and allow people to check in on their pets while they are out of the house.

    Mr Lebeau said: "When you're away, you can video chat and see what goes on at home."

    The robot projector is controlled by a mobile phone app and can also run apps that are downloaded through the Google Play store via its Android system.

  9. Christie to showcase state-of-the-art projection technology at AIMC 2014

    Christie has announced it will be displaying its latest cinema projection technology at this week's Australian International Movie Convention (AIMC) 2014.

    The company is one of the top exhibitors at the event, which is being held at the Pavilion Convention Centre, Jupiters Hotel & Casino at Gold Coast from October 12th to 16th.

    State-of-the-art cinema and audio solutions will all be on show at Christie's booth 32 at AIMC 2014, with Lin Yu, vice-president of Christie Asia Pacific, noting the firm is a trusted brand in the digital cinema projection market.

    She said: "Through our continued participation in AIMC, we hope to further strengthen the Christie brand and our cinema offerings in Australia and New Zealand and work even more closely with our partners to provide better service and support to valued customers in this region."

    As well as running its booth at AIMC 2014, Christie will be conducting a wide range of workshops at the event, featuring products such as Christie Vive Audio, Christie Duo and laser projection technologies.

    One of the top workshops at this year's AIMC is likely to be Future-proofing the Sound Experience in Your Theatre with Christie Vive Audio, a Dolby Atmos Compatible Format, which is being run by Christie.

    Michael Bosworth, general manager of Christie Australia, added: "AIMC is one of the leading cinema events in Australia."

  10. New Lenovo tablet includes projector

    The latest new tablet released by Lenovo incorporates a pico projector in what could be a way forward for the portable computing industry.

    Lenovo's Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is a 13-inch device with an incorporated projector so users can show what is on the screen on a larger display.

    The images projected by the device currently offers an 854×480 pixel resolution at 50 inches, but Lenovo is still working on the technology and this could improve before the device is available in shops.

    Jeff Meredith, vice-president of marketing for Lenovo Mobile Business Group, stated that the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro allows users to do more with their tablet.

    He explained that consumers who buy a Yoga Tablet 2 Pro can "go hands free and hang the tablet from the wall with the new Hang mode; get unparalleled sound on a tablet with loaded audio features; and choose the operating system that’s right for them - Android or Windows".

    The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro was designed in conjunction with actor Ashton Kutcher, who joined Lenovo as a product engineer a year ago.

    Kutcher said: "The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has got the best sound, a dramatically brilliant camera and display, a new mode, a projector and top processor, so I think we created the best tablet available. I can't wait for people to try it."
