An independent cinema in Truro in Cornwall is offering local people and visitors top quality viewing after upgrading all of its projectors to top-of-the-range digital models.

The Plaza Cinema was one of the first cinemas in the UK to have a digital projector when they first became available, but thanks to recent developments, the cinema has now installed digital projectors and associated equipment in all of its screens.

The systems mean that there are no film reels left in the cinema, eliminating the need for regular big deliveries and splicing of negatives. It means that a greater range of films can be shown and the cinema can provide much greater flexibility with its screenings.

The projectors also mean that the cinema has much more versatility for hosting activities beyond the screening of films, such as hosting conferences, talks and presentations.

Summer blockbusters that have already been screened on the Plaza’s new system include The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spiderman Ice Age: Continental Drift 3D and Dr Seuss' The Lorax 3D.

The upgrading of all of the projectors has accompanied an ongoing series of improvements made of the entire cinema, which has seen its carpets replaced throughout. The cinema is also have a major redesign of its website which is due to launch soon.
