The Home Cinema 8500 UB and Pro Cinema 9500 UB projectors from Epson have received THX certification, a strict performance standard for black levels, resolution, contrast, colour gamut and signal processing.
Both the native 1080p 3LCD home cinema models feature THX Movie Mode, a playback setting that lets users of the projectors experience colour, black levels and clean signal processing comparable to those used by filmmakers in the studio.
"At THX, we strive to identify and collaborate with innovative companies that share our same passion and commitment for recreating cinematic experiences in the home," said Matthew Chrispen, director of certification at THX. "Epson's latest THX-certified projectors are engineered to do just that, reproducing colour and black levels that closely mirror the filmmaker's mastering studio, and presenting sports and action movies with smooth motion and detail."
Epson's Home Cinema 8500 UB and Pro Cinema 9500 UB projectors also feature the latest D7 chip set with Epson's C2Fine and UltraBlack technology, boosting black levels and promoting vivid images. They deliver a contrast ratio of up to 200,000:1, with brightness of 1,600 lumens and dual-layered auto iris technology.
The projectors' inclusion of Epson's FineFrame technology further eliminates judder and promotes sharper video quality.
