Sony has unveiled a new camcorder range, many of which have projectors built in to allow people to view their footage while on the move.
The electronics manufacturer confirmed the launch of five new devices with built-in projectors in its Handycam and Bloggie lines.
While the projector only offers 20 lumens of brightness, the resulting screen on a nearby surface will still offer a larger alternative to the on-board LCD viewing screen. The gadget is available on the Sony Handycam HDR-PJ760V, HDR-PJ710V, HDR-PJ580V, HDR-PJ260V and the entry-level Handycam HDR-PJ200.
Meanwhile, the camcorders all record 1080p AVCHD video at 24Mbps, offering a good quality of film for such small devices. The high-end stabilisation system has also been picked up on, with reviewers praising the technology that manages to keep the lens almost perfectly steady regardless of the user's hand movements.
Despite adding new features and options to the camcorders, Sony has managed to streamline the size and form of the devices. This could be a further boost to encourage people to use the projector while on the move thanks to the ease with which it can be set up.
