Technology giant Sony has launched a new addition to their popular line of 4K home cinema projectors in the form of the VPL-VW500ES.
As with its predecessor the VPL-VW1000ES, the world's first 4K projector, the VPL-VW500ES harnesses the power of 4K SXRD panels in order to produced DCI based resolution of 4096 x 2160. The new projector also benefits from the latest HDMI 2.0 standard, which enables smooth 4K/fps content without the need for electronic pixel enhancement.
The new projector also includes Sony's Super Resolution 4K Reality Creation upscaler, which is an algorithm exclusively designed for the company's 'Mastered in 4K' 4K enhanced Blu-ray discs to enable more accurate 4K images.
The latest addition to Sony's 4K series comes complete with 1,700 ANSI-lumen brightness, TRILUMINOS display technology for rich colours, and a 200,000:1 contrast ratio. Sony have also developed a 2.06 zoom powered lens complete with wide shift range in order to remove the necessity of additional platform extensions in ceiling mounts in rooms with higher ceilings.
The VPL-VW500ES has been designed with rear space in mind, with a front air exhaust cooling system, which allows for a large projected image without a need for excessive rear space.
