Sony has unveiled its newest Handycam Projector, which allows users to project HD video onto flat surfaces just moments after it has been shot.

The launch of the HDR-PJ50 in India is the latest roll-out in a series of Handycam Projector models that have a built-in high contrast projector on the outside of a flip-out LCD panel, giving users a simple way to replay videos or images without needing additional cables, a computer or other devices.

The compact LED projector allows videos and images to be projected at up to 1.5 metres onto walls, ceilings or any flat surfaces – the optimum projection distance being about 3 metres away. The 220GB internal hard drive provides storage for the captured video and images, while the Highlight Playback feature makes playback easy.

The HandyCam Projector series come with an advanced Clear Phase 5.1 Channel stereo speaker with S-master digital amplifiers to produce clear, dynamic sound. Those wanting to add a more cinematic feel to their home videos can connect to an external 5.1 home cinema system using the provided 3.5mm audio input.

When shooting video, the Advanced Wind Noise Reduction feature helps keep noise and wind interference to a minimum. Another useful feature is the Optical SteadyShot that corrects shaky videos and is ideal for capturing fast moving footage such as sporting events.
