Daimler’s small vehicle manufacturing arm Smart has revealed that its latest concept car will feature a built-in projector under the bonnet.
The model, which is called the Forstars, will be unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, which is to be held from 29 September to 14 October.
Described as a ‘Sports Utility Coupe’, the car also boasts leather seats, a glass roof and a 60kW magneto-electric engine which allows speeds of more than 80mph to be achieved.
The built-in video projector is completely concealed underneath the bonnet and allows any surface in front of the car to be turned into a giant screen.
The projector can display video footage which has been transferred to it through Bluetooth, so drivers can use their smartphones or laptops to feed video directly to the projector. Drivers can also plug their smartphones directly into the projector.
The concept car is also fitted with a ‘high-quality sound system with additional loudspeakers in the ventilation openings behind the doors’ in order to produce the sound needed for the projector’s video displays.
Dr Annette Winkler from Smart told GizMag, "With its powerful battery and integrated projector the smart forstars can transform any grey backyard into an animated open-air cinema."
