The Epson EH-TW5500 has been praised in a recent projector review for its excellent home cinema experience.
Starting with the picture quality, the projector is described as "phenomenal" by the review from Latest Gadgets. An excellent colour palette and sharpness are topped off by the extremely dark blacks. Displaying blacks and dark areas is usually an area where projectors show their weaknesses but, according to this review the Epson model excels in this area with a dynamic contrast ratio of 200,000:1. In fact, the experience is described as like being in the cinema, with other benefits including a 2.1 optical zoom and a well-designed image-shifting function.
Meanwhile, the sound is also perfect for home cinema fans, with the projector producing just 22dB when in Eco mode. Even its physical design is unobtrusive, with no shine on the outer casing.
Although the range of inputs is relatively restricted, the essentials are still there. Latest Gadgets reports that the machine takes two x.v. Colour-compatible HDMIs, a component video input and an RGB PC input.
However, the Epson EH-TW5500's quality does come with a rather hefty price tag and customers can expect to pay around £4,000 for the device.
