A cutting edge new camera, with an integrated projector, has been released by Nikon as an extension to its popular Coolpix range.

Instead of simply viewing pictures on a LCD screen on the back of a digital camera, the Coolpix S1000pi projects the images onto a wall or other flat surface, with impressive results.

Reviewers claim that the effectiveness of the built-in projector has to be experienced to be fully understood. Although viewed by some simply as a novelty, others claim it is a major innovation – removing the need to link up a traditional digital projector to a PC to project photographs.

In terms of its features, the Nikon Coolpix S1000pi has a 12.1 megapixel camera, with a 1/2.3-inch CCD sensor. The 5x optical zoom Nikkor lens is tucked away in the corner of the camera body in order to make room for the projector lens.

The new projector camera is likely to be a popular option for people who like to share their pictures instantly – without even having to download them onto a PC in order to display them clearly. All Nikon Coolpix S1000pi users need is a flat surface.
