Harvey Nichols in Edinburgh has set up its own intimate screening venue in its Fourth Floor Window Bar thanks to high-quality yet versatile projection equipment.
The store will now be launching a new series of screenings at the unique cinema, which will see classic films screened once a month, under the Movies and Shakers banner.
The store’s events co-ordinator, Emma Jones, said that the addition of the projection equipment has allowed them to branch out into a completely new area.
“We underwent a refurbishment at the beginning of last year and created an additional private dining space separate from the restaurant and brasserie,” she said. “Within the intimate space, we have a projector which we can use to make the room into a micro cinema.”
She said that they staged a one-off screening a few years ago with projection equipment they had borrowed and it proved so popular that they began giving serious consideration to purchasing their own equipment.
“We didn’t have the proper facilities at the time to run regular events, but the taster proved popular,” she told STV. “Now, we have the built in projector and screen so we can run the events more regularly and with a proper cinema feel to them.”
