A new pico projector has been released by Optima and boasts a reasonable list price and a number of useful features.

The PK120 weights around 141g and is less than 30mm thick, making it suitable for use on the go. While the picture quality won't be perfect, for a portable device it is acceptable, with 18 lumens of light, a nHD DLP chipset, 640x360 pixel resolution and a 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

Meanwhile, there is 2GB of inbuilt memory and a microSD card slot that accepts cards of up to 32GB. Coupled with the 'all-new file viewer' that allows direct playback of Microsoft Office and PDF files, photographs and film, the memory will make sure that the device can be used in all sorts of situations rather than being dependent on computer access.

In terms of audio, there are two integrated .5 watt speakers and an audio output for external speaker connection. There are some doubts about the quality of the sound from the internal speakers and the short battery life of just 90 minutes of a full charge might also be a problem for some users.

But hopefully the affordability of the device will make up for this along with its ease of use.
