The global pico projector market is predicted to reach a value of $6.08 billion by the end of 2014, according to a new market research report.

The Global Pico Projector Market (2010 - 2015) report, compiled and published by MarketsandMarkets, determined that the sector's growth between 2009 and 2014 would be more than 120.56 per cent.

Sales of the compact projector technology in the US are expected to make up around 85 per cent of the production market and 41.5 per cent of consumption.

MarketsandMarkets – which publishes about 120 qualitative market research reports a year across 10 main industries – carried out in-depth examinatons of the markets for the three main types of projector: embedded projectors, stand-alone projectors and media player projectors.

The numbers revealed that the pico market is expected grow from 22 million units in 2008 to 39.08 million in 2014 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 139.11 per cent from 2009 to 2014. Embedded projectors would drive the growth with a CAGR of 203.72 per cent.

They predicted that the stand-alone projectors would drive the early growth, but would subsequently be caught up with by the advancement of embedded projectors.

The report also tracked the application markets for pico projectors, such as laptops and mobile phones, and researched numbers for the four main geographies of North America, Europe, Asia, and Rest of the World (ROW).
