In what is believed to be the first of its kind, Chinese manufacturer Ordro has launched a new camcorder with a built-in pico projector.

The benefits of such an addition to a camcorder are clear, as the projector allows users to project films directly from the camera, without having to connect the camera to a separate projector.

The HDV-350S is a camcorder with 10x optical zoom that can capture 1080p video or pictures at 12 megapixels. However, it also includes a pico projector, which also carries the option to actually remove it from the main body of the camera. The integrated camera includes Texas Instruments chip DLP and can throw an image of 854x480 resolution with a brightness of 15 lumens. The manufacturer says this can produce an image of 60 inches.

Reviewers claim that this new projector-in-camcorder concept is expected to catch on among tech users who want to be able to show films at the flick of a switch without having to set up extra equipment. Needles to say, Ordro’s new model is not expected to be the only one on the market for much longer.
