The Optoma EW536 is a good all-round DLP projector that would prove extremely useful in a classroom, meeting room or home cinema.

Its built-in lens and zoom ring achieve sharp and focused images and are safely tucked out of the way so the projector can be easily moved around.

The EW536 comes with a range of connection options, including the standard S-video, video and audio ports, plus an HDMI socket and two VGA ports, so you can connect either two laptops or an external monitor.

Projections are extremely bright thanks to the 2,800 ANSI lumens rating, and remain vibrant even in eco mode. Meanwhile, the 3000:1 contrast ratio provides a good level of sharpness.

Energy-saving features include 1W standby mode, auto power off and a long lamp life of up to 4,000 hours, saving the user both time and money.

Due to the projector’s WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio, reviewers have pointed out that higher definition laptop screens may display vertical border lines onscreen. However, these do not appear on the projected image.

Powerful and practical, the EW536 is a handy all-purpose projector to have in a school, office or at home.
