Projectorpoint Predictions for 2018: Office Projectors

It’s coming to that time of year when we reflect on everything that’s happened over the last 12 months and look forward to what we’ve got in store over 2018. And in the world of office projector technology we’ve had much to celebrate.

Last week we cast our crystal ball over home cinema projectors. This week it’s the turn of office projectors where we’ve also seen some fantastic examples of previously exclusive and expensive technology being released at increasingly accessible prices.

We’re pretty sure that 2018 is the year that this develops even further, and businesses everywhere are going to be able to benefit from more efficient, optimised working practices, thanks to better technology.

So without further delay, here’s a look at the big trends we think are going to define office projector technology in 2018.

1.    Laser projection will become increasingly popular

In 2017 we’ve seen laser projection technology walk right up to the precipice of ubiquity, but we think next year it’s going to be well and truly established as the projector technology of choice. You might have read all about the insurmountable rise of laser projection from our recent blogs, but despite all the attention it’s been getting, there is still plenty of room for the widespread adoption of the technology.

Offices in particular have a lot to gain from laser projection. After all, every second that is spent switching the projector on, waiting for it to load, operating, maintaining and cleaning your projector, is a second of productivity your business is wasting. Laser negates all this and more with instant-on technology and minimum maintenance requirements.

2.    Nobody will bother with anything less than HD

Even in the office space 4K technology is becoming more and more popular and as 4K uptake increases, it’s dragging the lower resolutions up with it. As demand for higher resolution continues to grow, we predict that Full HD resolution – 1920 x 1080px – which some time ago was considered top of the range, will become the standard entry level technology.

With developments happening at such speed, anything less than HD resolution will quickly become obsolete as prices fall. If you ask us, we highly doubt that a significant number of people will buy anything less than Full HD resolution this time next year.

3.    4K will become cheaper

Through 2017, we’ve seen 4K technology get more and more popular – but next year we think it’s going to get more accessible too. As more and more people become convinced of the many benefits of 4K office projectors, we predict demand will continue to rise, and consequently prices will fall.

This is the most exciting stage of any technological development – seeing something that used to be premium and exclusive being opened up to more and more people. One day, of course, as technology improves yet further, we hope to be stating that 4K is the new entry level resolution.
