Nintendo Switch gets UK release date
Nintendo’s much-anticipated new hybrid console Switch is to be released in the UK in March this year.
British gamers will be able to get their hands on the device, which can be used both handheld and with a TV, on March 3rd. Here’s what you need to know.
The Nintendo Switch will be priced at £279.99, a little more expensive than the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One S.
With battery life able to last more than six hours depending on the game being played, it doesn’t look like the Switch will be one of those handheld consoles that drops out on you an hour into your three-hour train journey…
The JoyCon is the name for the Switch’s controller. It’ll come in red, blue and grey and will have that satisfying rumble feedback.
AS the name suggests, the Switch is designed to be enjoyed both at home and when out and about. It not only connects to a TV at home but also transforms into an on-the-go handheld using its 6.2-inch screen.
The console will be released with a number of much-loved games from the rich Nintendo stable, including Super Mario Odyssey, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and FIFA. But look out for new games too, 1-2 Switch, a reaction-based party game that uses the JoyCon controllers.
What they say
“Nintendo Switch is a brand-new kind of home gaming system that offers a wide variety of play modes. We will introduce the world to new experiences made possible by the unique characteristics of the Nintendo Switch hardware and the Joy-Con.” – Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima.
“With a £280 price, 3 March release date and Zelda at launch, this is a seriously appealing gaming machine already. It looks like Sony and Microsoft may have some serious competition on their hands.” Luke Edwards, the Mirror.
