A new range of projectors that make use of a pioneering way of reflecting light has won a top prize for innovation at an international trade fair for installation equipment.

The LED Reflection projector range, made by Italian light engineering specialists Coemar, won a 2010 Award for Innovation at the PLASA 2010 trade fair, held earlier this month in London.

The Reflection projectors are the first range that operate, with an LED, through the exploitation of the physical properties of the reflection of the light. The award was presented to the company's president, Renato Molinari by PLASA's vice-chair Ed Pagett.

In the projectors, the LEDs project the light onto a mirror surface which reflects it to the outside, guaranteeing perfect colours and extreme purity throughout the white light range. It was this concept and the lighting that generated it that particularly impressed the PLASA judges.

The company says the range will be commercially available from the beginning of November this year, and will therefore represent a new turning point in the event lighting world and further success for Coemar.

PLASA is billed as the leading international trade show for event, installation and entertainment technology. It was held at London's Earls Court exhibition space on 12-15 September
