A new optical front projection screen from projection screen specialist, dnp Denmark, could well be the largest in the world, boasting an image area of up to 5.3m x 3.0m.

The Supernova XL’s image size is equivalent to 240in in 16:9 and offers near flat-screen quality. It is being aimed at the education, corporate and religious sectors, as its sheer size and image quality in brightly lit environments mean that it will work well in large conference rooms, auditoriums and houses of worship.

Two sheets of film have been joined together to create the extra large image area, which appears to the eye to be virtually seamless.

The optical screen is tensioned using a specially designed framing system, the firm said. Despite its large size, the Supernova XL is simple to transport as it can be rolled up to be moved, therefore removing the expense and difficulty that often accompanies moving large scale projection screens. It is also able to be assembled and installed on site by two people relatively quickly.

The screen is compatible with HD as well as 4K projectors and frame options include black velvet or black coating to offer maximum light absorption.
