The latest new tablet released by Lenovo incorporates a pico projector in what could be a way forward for the portable computing industry.

Lenovo's Yoga Tablet 2 Pro is a 13-inch device with an incorporated projector so users can show what is on the screen on a larger display.

The images projected by the device currently offers an 854×480 pixel resolution at 50 inches, but Lenovo is still working on the technology and this could improve before the device is available in shops.

Jeff Meredith, vice-president of marketing for Lenovo Mobile Business Group, stated that the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro allows users to do more with their tablet.

He explained that consumers who buy a Yoga Tablet 2 Pro can "go hands free and hang the tablet from the wall with the new Hang mode; get unparalleled sound on a tablet with loaded audio features; and choose the operating system that’s right for them - Android or Windows".

The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro was designed in conjunction with actor Ashton Kutcher, who joined Lenovo as a product engineer a year ago.

Kutcher said: "The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro has got the best sound, a dramatically brilliant camera and display, a new mode, a projector and top processor, so I think we created the best tablet available. I can't wait for people to try it."
