A new range of professional installation projectors have been unveiled by NEC Display Solutions Europe.
The PX Series are the world’s first projectors enabled to work with extension modules based on the Open Pluggable Specification (OPS). Based on DMD DLP Chip technology, the range can display a resolution of up to WUXGA 1920x1200, with a contrast ration of 2,11:1 and a brightness of between 7,000 and 8,000 ANSI Lumen. Ten-bit HQV colour processing also helps to ensure top picture quality on these projectors.
Gerd Kaiser, product line manager for large venue projectors at NEC, commented: “These innovations epitomise the message behind our long-lasting tradition of performance and ensure the best picture quality, ultimate flexibility and a low total cost of ownership.”
The projector range is designed for quite a niche market. As heavy duty machines, they are made to be used in fixed installations in higher education environments, for critical signage applications for events. According to the manufacturer, their “ultra-high brightness, image precision and industry leading reliability and performance” make them suited to these tasks.
Meanwhile, the options for display input are as varied as would be expected from this class of projector. Users can choose from HDMI, S-video, RGB and RCA connectors as well as the NEC Projector Viewer function, which enables users to show PowerPoint files and other documents via the network or straight from a USB memory stick rather than having to put them through a presentation PC.
