The Light Touch projector can instantly transform any flat surface into a touch screen and
would be an extremely handy gadget to have at your fingertips if it becomes more widely available.
This compact interactive projector uses "holographic laser projection" technology to create a projected display and virtual keyboard that can be controlled by touch.
It works in much the same way as other infrared keyboards – infrared sensors detect motion and turn the projected image into a 10.1 inch virtual touch screen. This allows the user to control the projector and interact with applications simply by touching the projected image.
The device offers bright, high quality projections thanks to the WVGA resolution and comes with 2GB of internal storage, a MicroSD card slot (up to 32GB), a 3.5mm audio jack, Wi-Fi b/g, one USB port and a composite video out port.
Currently the Light Touch is a reference product and is only available to key customers and partners, but it has already begun making a name for itself and would certainly prove useful in the home and workplace.
It was recently named a CES Innovations Honoree in both the Media Player and Personal Electronics categories.
