Interactive displays see major growth

The sales levels of interactive whiteboards and interactive flat panel displays across the education and corporate sectors skyrocketed over the course of quarter three this year, according to new research.

Futuresource Consulting's Interactive Displays Quarterly Market Tracker found that almost 440,000 unit sales were achieved globally, marking the second biggest three-month time period since the records were began 15 years ago.

Colin Messenger, senior market analyst at Futuresource Consulting, told InAVate: "The product shift from interactive whiteboards to interactive flat panels continues to make waves in the industry, though has yet to percolate through all countries.

"IFPD (interactive flat panel displays) volumes are significant, accounting for 29 per cent of all displays sold, with a number of product launches at ISTE likely to spur on further growth."

Sales across Asia and China both saw growth, while in the UK, interactive flat panel displays accounted for over half – 57 per cent of sales – overtaking the market share held by interactive whiteboards.

"Moving forward we see the corporate market as the fastest growing sector for interactive displays, increasing to more than 20 per cent of total sales by 2018, with the growth coming from more developed markets like the USA, UK, Germany and Sweden," Mr Messenger went on to say.
