Sanyo is to launch four new Wide-XGA-format projectors in Singapore this week.

The new range, which will initially be available only to Australian dealers, has been specifically designed for commercial and Pro AV environments.

The four new projectors are: the PLC-WM5500, the PLC-WM5500L, the PLC-WM4500 and the PLC-WM4500L. The first two models both come with a 5,500 ANSI lumens brightness level; and the second two models are able to deliver 4,500 ANSI lumens of brightness, and have remote-controllable power zoom and focus. All four projectors use Wide XGA panels in 16:10 widescreen aspect ratios, with 1,280 by 800 resolutions.

The WM5500 models have a corner keystone-correction function to eliminate the geometric distortion which results from the projector being placed at an angle to the screen.

The new projectors have a picture-by-picture mode which allows the display of two images in fixed screen locations of equal size, thus eliminating the need for a second projector for video conferencing and other applications where the display of two images is required.

Sanyo claims to have increased efficiency of the new projectors by 40% with the installation of a new optical engine and cooling system.
