Barco projectors have been selected by Cinepolis for its planned upgrades to cinemas across Latin America.
The DP4K-60L laser projector has been selected because of its superior image quality and technological superiority, with the latest deal between Barco and Cinepolis building on the partnership between the two companies that was set up in 2011.
Gabriel Morales, director for technology at Cinepolis, explained that the choice of Barco's DP4K-60L laser projector fits in with the firm's aim of offering an "upscale, family-oriented environment to indulge our guests in an intimate, pampering experience".
He added: "Barco has been an excellent digital cinema partner, not only providing the industry's best-in-class projectors but also leading in the local Latin market, with its partnership approach and dedicated overall support experience to optimise our investment in their solutions."
Cinepolis Parque Toreo in Mexico City became the first Cinepolis site to be fitted with the DP4K-60L laser projector, which was installed in all 13 of the multiplex's screens. The device can show 4K content at 60 fps and 3D movies in full 4K resolution.
Ney Corsino, senior vice-president of international sales for Barco, said: "Our close relationship with Cinepolis formed during our extensive deployments has been immensely successful, and we applaud their progressive approach to cinema entertainment."
