All Eyes on the New Epson EH-TW9400

Projectorpoint News - New Epson Home Cinema Projector Range

We’re kicking off 2019 with style at Projectorpoint with the announcement that the brand new Epson EH-TW9400 is now available to buy! It’s fair to say that even as we sit here in the second week of the year, this is set to be one of the best home cinema projectors to hit the market in 2019.

Epson has made quite a name for itself with its 4K enhancement technology and the EH-TW9400 is the latest iteration of this tech in action. The big sister of the EH-TW7400, the EH-TW9400 is designed for true film fans who want to enjoy every bit of detail.

It’s an upgrade on the hugely popular EH-TW9300 and set to be just as in-demand as its forerunner. Let’s take a closer look at just what’s on offer with what some people are already suggesting could be the best home cinema projector to hit the market this year.

A quick glance at the stats

  • LCD Display Technology
  • 2,600 ANSI lumens
  • 3,840 x 2,160 (UHD) Resolution
  • 3,500 typical lamp life
  • 1,200,000:1 contrast ratio
  • FREE upgrade to a five-year return to base warranty exclusive from Projectorpoint!
  • Lamp warranty runs for three years or up to 3,000 hours (whichever comes first)

Functionally Fantastic

All Eyes On The New Epson Eh-Tw9400

Complicated technology shouldn’t get in the way of your viewing pleasure! That’s just one of the reasons why we love the EH-TW9400. Not only have Epson crammed in a few more goodies for film fanatics, but the company have kept things streamlined and simple making sure the full functionality of this home cinema beast surprisingly accessible.

The motorised optics include a powered 2.1x optical zoom, powered focus and powered lens shift of ±96.3 per cent vertical and ±47.1 per cent horizontal and it’s also worth noting that the Epson EH-TW9400 has ISF calibration tools that can be used for further control over the individual settings.

All of this means setup is incredibly flexible and most home cinema fans will be able to make the device work for their space. There’s even more accessibility on offer if you take things up a notch and opt for the EH-TW9400W, which comes with wireless technology too.

Style and build

All Eyes On The New Epson Eh-Tw9400

All the models in this range are equally solid and understated in their design. With very little unnecessary flourishes involved, the Epson EH-TW9400 and EH-TW-9400W sit comfortably in any home cinema setting and blend in seamlessly.

The extravagant among you may desire something more futuristic in your projector design, but with image quality this good, it’ll be very hard to complain about the subtle style of the EH-TW9400.

Fantastic 4K images

But let’s cut to the chase, what we’re all interested in with Epson’s home cinema projectors is the resolution and the Epson EH-TW9400 is no exception.

The device offers 4K images on the screen. Yes, this differs from native 4K from Sony which offers 4K on the panel and for the purists among you this might be a problem.

But there’s a price difference to consider here as well. The new Epson device is about half the price of even the entry-level Sony 4K devices. When you keep this in mind, Epson’s patented 4K enhancement technology doesn’t seem like such a compromise.

Even with seriously fast-moving film action, we have been wowed by the images from the EH-TW9400. The picture is sharp, crisp and the HDR support on top of the impressive resolution delivers considerable detail and depth, producing rich and natural colours. The ultra-wide colour gamut also increases the range of lifelike colours.

The depth of blacks and the details in shadows are noteworthy here – an important box ticked for film fans. And when you add the almost ridiculously high contrast ratio of 1,200,000:1 to the list of stats, you’re looking at image quality that rivals even some of the pricier models on the market.

It’s fair to say that even 4K purists will have something to think about with the Epson EH-TW9400.

An industry-defining device

All Eyes On The New Epson Eh-Tw9400

Without resorting to the most expensive segment of the market, the Epson EH-TW9400 offers an appealing alternative for those investing in their home cinema set up in 2019.

In test screenings we just about forgot that we were apparently compromising on native 4K when watching movies on the EH-TW9400 and we truly believe many of our customers will feel similarly. This is a great 4K experience that leaves some room in your budget for other home cinema additions or upgrades. We’d invest in trying to darken the room as much as possible to make the most of that high contrast ratio, alongside buying a superb home cinema screen to enhance the clarity and depth even further.  You’ll probably still have budget left vs. a native 4K projector for a receiver, speakers, seating and anything else you’ll need this year to sit back and bask the glorious creations of your favourite directors!

If you want to find out more or see the device in action with a no-pressure demo, give us a call at Projectorpoint on 0800 073 0833.
