Vivitek is adding to its popular Qumi range of projectors with the new Qumi Q7 HD LED pocket projector, announced this week at CES 2013.

The new projector offers 800 lumens of brightness in a pocket-sized package, thanks to its LED light source. The LED also means it has up to 30,000 hours of operation time and can display images in a 720p native WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution.

Senior product manager at Vivitek, Tinh Ho, said that the new projector is the brand’s next step on its mission to bring portable and energy-efficient projectors to the market.

“We want to bring a complete line of projector models to fit just about any need and application,” Ho explained. “Hours of operation, brightness and picture quality are key factors for consumers, and the Q7 incorporates LED and other technologies and features, such as 2D-to-3D conversion, into the Qumi line to ensure that this family of projectors is versatile enough to meet consumer demand.”

The projector is 3D-ready (via DLP Link) and contains a DLP pico chipset from Texas Instruments. When it comes to connectivity, it has two HDMI ports and well as VGA-In, Composite Video and Audio-In RCA capabilities. It is expected to be available to consumers by Summer 2013.
