3M and Roku team up on streaming projector
3M has launched a brand new portable projector that allows for the streaming of content from popular internet streaming services, including Amazon Instant Video and Netflix.
The new projector goes by the rather unwieldy name of the 3M Streaming Projector Powered by Roku. The name is clear to credit Roku with the streaming capabilities, through the brand’s popular Streaming Stick.
The stick is a WiFi connected USB stick that has been made fully compatible with the projector, to allow for the display of all Roku-handled content.
The compact projector packs a significant punch into a small package, weighing just 1.3 pounds and measuring just 7.8 x 7 x 4.5 inches. It can, however, project an image of up to 120 inches and can function on battery power for up to 2 hours and 45.
Roku’s Chas Smith said, “We’ve worked very closely with the 3M projector team to ensure consumers get the best streaming experience available from a projection device. The 3M Streaming Projector creates a big-screen Roku experience for people to enjoy content in any setting.”
The projector also has HDMI connectivity so can be hooked up to external displays, as well as built-in stereo speakers and an audio port for connecting outside sound options.
