Last few units remaining, this model has been replaced by the Epson EH-TW9400. We are expecting the first uk stocks mid December and are now taking back orders. Epson had the EH-TW9300 set up in their dedicated custom 8 seater dolby atmos cinema projecting on to a 3.5mtr wide screen and were demonstrating 1080p content being upscaled using the new 4K e-shift technology now present in the range consisting of the EH-TW7300, EH-TW9300 and the wireless version EH-TW9300W. Mission Impossible-rogue Nation was the demo content and with content on pause and then applying the 4K upscaling processing to the image brought out noticeable definition to the image. The intensity of the processing can be selected in 5 steps from soft to strong. For the seated distance and screen size we were watching setting 3 was the best setting. The Martian was used to demo how the TW9300 handled native 4K UHD resolution with HDR content. Like 4K upscaling for 1080p, HDR has 4 selectable settings from HDR1, HDR2, HDR3 and HDR4. The vast majority of native 4K UHD Blu-Ray discs have HDR2, currently there is no content with HDR3 or HDR4 range. We were shown the difference with HDR set to off, HDR1 and HDR2. HDR1 boost the image brightness and colour saturation whilst the default HDR2 produces a less bright image but with greater definition and detail to the image. HDR would be suitable for media rooms with some ambient light, but if you are intending to have a bat cave black room then HDR2 is clearly the better option not only for clarity but for eliminating the potential issue of eye fatigue when watching the brighter HDR1 setting. The end result from the image was truly stunning, depth of detail, colour saturation and rich deep blacks that were faultless. Coupled with the Dolby Atmos audio it was both a visual and audio feast.
Epson have a number of great home cinema projectors available with a model to suit every budget. To make it easier, we have produced the below comparison table to show you what features you can expect to get for your money..
