In addition to increased brightness and contrast over the old Epson EH-TW7200, the new EH-TW7300 brings 4K UHD image enhancement technology and HDR content support to the party features which until now were reserved for Epson's Flagship Laser Home cinema model.

Out of the box there are few noticeable tweaks to the chassis design. The TW7300 has a slightly larger footprint to its predecessor the EH-TW7200, but has had the chassis lines rounded and softened and the front air vents reduced in height to produce a much more aesthetically pleasing design. A full matte white chassis also lends itself well to blending with the average living room ceiling.

Switching the TW7300 on brings the new motorised lens cover into action, sliding back to reveal the lens. Positioning the image on screen as ever is quick and simple thanks to large and unchanged optics with 96.3% on the vertical axis, 47.1 and the horizontal axis and a 2.1x optical zoom. New to the TW7300 is motorised lens shift, zoom and focus, previously on the EH-TW7200 this was all manual adjustment.

Once setup and running in cinema mode preset which we notched down to -2 on brightness for our demo room bat cave like environment, we connected our Panasonic 4K UHD player to the HDMI1 input (which is HDCP2.2 compliant, a prerequisite for 4K UHD playback) and fired up our UHD HDR disc of the Amazing Spider Man. Epson really have done a superb job with the 4K enhancement technology with the clarity and detail to the image looking very impressive indeed. As expected images that contain smaller text or intricate detail are soft in comparison to a native 4K projector such as the Sony VW260ES, but at approx half the price of a native 4K projector, if budget is a consideration then it's a compromise most will be happy to live with.

Recently reviewed over on AVFroums, they had the following comments to say about the TW7300 :

“You just can't get the superb picture quality and features anywhere else for the money”
“With the EH-TW7300 Epson have really set the cat amongst the pigeons in terms of features and picture quality and are doing it at £2,200, which is simply unheard of until now.”
“Quite frankly nothing comes close in terms of performance and features under £3,000 and the Epson EH-TW7300 is quite rightly held up as an absolute Best Buy!”
