We've had a look at the W600 in our demo room - first impressions were very good -  images were bright, sharp with excellent colour accuracy.

We tested the unit first with the lights on then with the lights off. With lights on the image was still crisp and bright - turned off we chose to put the projector into eco mode as the picture was too bright for us (in ECO Mode lamplife increases from 2500 to 4000 hours under normal operating conditions). The W600 is rated at 2600 lumens - so an ideal choice if you have high ambient light levels in your room that you cannot control or want low level lighting on.

Colour accuracy looked very good, particularly with reds - all colours looked vibrant and rich - more so than the Optoma and Infocus models which appeared slightly 'washed'. However it should be noted that we compared all 3 projectors with factory default settings.

Portable design and numerous inputs including 2 HDMI and component video to allow you to connect Playstation 3, blu ray DVD, standard DVD, XBOX360 all at once!

Design gets the thumbs up too. A slightly larger chassis than the X9 or HD700X but still compact and lightweight finished in gloss white and charcoal brushed aluminium. Slightly more aethestically pleasing on a white ceiling then it's competitors!

When viewing 'Cars' on a 1080p blu ray there was a high level of noise in the projected image, however dropping the source output signal from the player to 720p the image was clear and sharp with no motion blur. (This will occur on any 720p home cinema projector being fed a 1080p signal as the projector has to downscale the signal from 1080p to 720p)

Zoom range of this projector is very, very limited (even less than the HD700x!) so if you have limitations re positioning make sure you checkout out screen size calculator.

Noise levels were slightly higher than the HD700x and X9 - not a great problem, but they would certainly be noticeable if you are seated very close to the projector.

A great 720p projector with a warranty that currently cant be matched by its competitors all at a price point that's going to be hard to beat.

For the more technical, the W600 supports 1080p at 24hz, 25hz and also 30hz via the HDMI only

BrilliantColor™ Performance
BenQ’s high-speed, 6-segment color wheel delivers the best balance between optimal brightness and color, while BrilliantColor Technology boosts mid-tone colors to increase overall brightness to produce a more life-like picture.

UNISHAPE lamp lighting technology by Osram delivers more lumens onto the screen for exquisitely rendered color fidelity, amplified brightness, and eye-popping visuals that illuminate your imagination. UNISHAPE also dynamically adapts light output with millisecond-exactness to each image/frame for significantly reduced dithering noise, sharply-focused contrast, and superior color gradation (especially in the difficult blues and reds). So whatever your content, whatever your ambient lighting, your home theater experience will always be richly magnificent.
