Yamaha unveils new AV receiver

Over the past year Yamaha has been creating a pretty spectacular wireless multiroom audio mix. First it brought us the MusicCast lineup, and now, with a new AV receiver its offering up one of the best receivers on the market.

The RX-S601 offers high resolution audio support, 4K passthrough and robust audio and video performance, despite its tiny size. It might be just over four inches tall, but the RX-S601 certainly packs a punch. With MusicCast, the receiver is capable of streaming audio from virtually any source, including live TV, blu-ray player or your smartphone, throughout the home to any of Yamaha’s 20 new MusicCast components.

The features on this little AV receiver really do seem endless. In addition to a range of connectivity options, the RX-S601 offers DLNA and Airplay. Even its Bluetooth support offers more than most – the receiver not only streams audio to the receiver, but it can send the signal back out to Bluetooth-enabled speakers regardless of the make.

It also boasts the usual features we expect from a high-end receiver, including decoding for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio and support for streaming multiple hi-res audio file formats at 24bit/192kHz resolution. The RX-S601 also features Burr-Brown 192 kHz / 24-bit digital-to-analog converters and Yamaha CINEMA DSP 3D processing to deliver maximum audio performance for music, movies and TV viewing.

“With the RX-S601, confined spaces are no longer a barrier to having a serious audio system in any room for the enjoyment of audio content with superior audio quality,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamaha’s AV division.

“With our game-changing MusicCast platform, in addition to onboard WiFi and Bluetooth input and output compatibility, this slimline AV receiver is a powerhouse that offers a new world of wireless freedom.”
