A motorsport venue in France has replaced all its displays and projectors with Sony equipment.
The owners of the Circuit Paul Ricard, located at Marseille, wanted to update its outdated video monitoring systems, which included inefficient CRT screens and analogue CCTV cameras, so made the decision to modernise its infrastructure to Sony.
The main centrepiece as part of this modernisation effort is the video wall in the control room. Comprising of nine Sony 60 inch BRAVIA Full HD Professional Displays, the wall also comes with several further Sony monitors aimed at displaying images from around the circuit, plus one dedicated screen that shows additional race timings.
Two Sony laser light projectors are also included in the updated infrastructure. One VPL-FHZ55 shows images of the race leader continually, while the second monitors the safety of the circuit by producing a situational view of the circuit captured by the on-track cameras.
Around the circuit, real-time race footage is displayed on over 100 interconnected BRAVIA displays. Across the main stands, 75 32-inch Full HD displays show the action and 18 40-inch Full HD displays are shown in the press room. In the more exclusive VIP boxes, 48-inch BRAVIA displays are found in the twelve VIP boxes.
4K display screens are located in the reception area at the circuit, with three 65 inch BRAVIA 4K professional displays offering crisp and stunning images in 4K. Touch-enabled BRAVIA displays are also in the reception area to help guide visitors to various points of the circuit.
Speaking of the massive upgrade at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Thierry Dostes, IT systems manager, said: “Now we’re getting pictures from night-time races with a quality that’s close to daylight conditions. We can really follow the cars and react quickly if something happens. Video from the cameras can be displayed on the video wall of Sony screens and video projectors, and we can also share this externally with our customers.
“What we really appreciated – above the quality and compatibility of Sony’s products – is the responsiveness of the team, who’ve always been on hand to answer our questions.”
