Christie has confirmed that it will be working in conjunction with Dolby Vision projection systems for Dolby Cinema, which offers viewers the 'total cinema experience.'
The projector brand will co-develop, supply, install, and service the Dolby Vision projection systems, creating strong images combined with 'immersive sound and inspired design.'
The Dolby Vision projection system makes use of state-of-the-art optics and image processing in order to provide high dynamic range (HDR) with enhanced colour technology. The new HDR technology makes use of two newly designed high-frame-rate (HFR) capable Christie 4K laser projection heads, Christie confirmed. These, when combined with Christie’s 6P modular laser light sources, offer cinemagoers high-contrast images and ultra-brightness.
Don Shaw, senior director of product management at Christie, said: "Cinema projection does not get any better than this. We have combined the research and engineering resources of two of the most innovative companies in the world to create the best projection system that anyone has yet seen.
"We’ll be delivering audiences a richer, more detailed viewing experience with up to 14 foot lamberts onscreen in 3D and up to 31 foot lamberts for 2D Dolby Vision content, far exceeding any ‘ultra-bright’ industry standards, to all Dolby Cinema locations.”
