The Berlin premier of Sony Pictures’ film, The Bounty Hunter, was particularly special because Sony took the opportunity to use its new Sony Digital Cinema 4K system.
The new system offers four times the resolution of traditional Full-HD or 2K projectors and has been fitted in the CinemaxX cinema in Berlin’s Potzdamer Platz. The system used for the screening comprised of Sony Professional’s SRX-R320 Digital Cinema Projector and the LMT-300.
The Bounty Hunter, starring Jenifer Aniston and Gerard Butler, has been distributed in the 4K Digital Cinema Package (DCP) worldwide.
The CinemaxX chain in Germany has already installed 60 Sony Digital Cinema 4K projection systems. The system offers ‘easier on the eye’ 3D, which avoids ‘triple flash’ technology.
Oliver Pasch, Sony Professional’s head of digital cinema Europe, stated, "Being allowed to do this in particular at CinemaxX in Berlin adds even more to the phenomenal value of 4K projection, to convey more detail than ever before to audiences worldwide, maintaining the cinema experience to remain the premiere movie experience”.
Rory Bruer, president of Worldwide Distribution for Sony Pictures, added, "We've had a fantastic response to The Bounty Hunter so far, specifically the detail and clarity of the viewing experience via the Sony 4K projection system.”
